Recognized for their inability to choose just one genre, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s newest album includes songs with influences from progressive rock, psychedelia, and middle eastern tonalities. “Compared to other albums that King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard has created, like Paper Mache Dream Balloon, where many of the songs sounded very similar to one another, each song in L.W. felt like they had their own unique sound, whether it was the instruments used or the genre of music,” junior Ellie Boyle said.

On Friday, October 25, Alex O’Connor, better known as Rex Orange County, released his second studio album. Pony contained ten songs, covering topics such as struggles with mental health, personal growth and relationship issues. Along with a new album, O’Connor announced via social media that he would travel on a world tour, promoting his newest piece of art. “It’s been a while since he (O’Connor) has released a new album. I love all the songs on the new album, and I hope he keeps releasing more music” NC sophomore Myles Hutcherson said.

Magnet sophomore Peyton Stack recreates Post Malone’s latest album, Hollywood’s Bleeding, which released September 6. This album contains background beats and uplifting vibes that fans can find in his previous albums. Even though this album contains similarities, Malone adds a new twist as he embraces singing rather than just embracing his rapping skills in every song. “Every song on the album meant something to me because I felt like Post was really trying to connect with his fans. This is my favorite album that he has made,” Magnet senior Emma Collins said.

Many fans declare the album as her best one. “Lana really did a great job with this album, she went for something different and it really paid off. The aesthetic and sound are amazing and it’s honestly my favorite out of all her albums. The two-year wait was worth it.” NC Senior Isabel Daez said. A North American tour accompanying the album starts on September 21 with tour stops in New York, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California.
