The NC Warriors ventured into their third regular-season game with hopes for a quality win. Led by team captains (pictured left to right) Josh Jospehs, Joshua Bagley, Latrell Bullard, and Malachi Singleton, the Warriors dominated the Alpharetta Raiders by a score of 43-7. With 322 passing yards, Singleton and the offensive unit put up a frenzy of touchdowns that proved NC as a dominant force in this year’s 7A class. The Warriors return on Friday, September 17. To take on the Etowah Eagles in a Cobb-Cherokee matchup.

Following a 59-16 scrimmage win over the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets, the NC Warriors ventured into their first regular season game. Despite taking a 14-0 lead at halftime, the Warriors ultimately fell to the Buford Wolves, 35-27. With impressive performances from quarterback Malachi Singleton, wide receiver Reggie Givhan, and defensive specialist Marquis Grove-Killebrew. Although an undesired outcome, the top-ranked Warriors plan to go back to the drawing boards for next week’s outing versus the Milton Eagles.

“I love that Malachi is BRAVE. Being that he has two older brothers, he’s played on basketball teams with them, rode scary rides at amusement parks and even faced a few giants on the football field. But Malachi always did everything his brothers did and never was intimidated, even the times he was on the football field without them,” Malachi’s mother, Margaret Singleton said. Malachi’s bravery has definitely paid off, he now experiences nationwide success and anticipates a lengthy and prosperous football career.

Sophomore Malachi Singleton wrapped up a great season filled with impressive plays. His remarkable season put him on the radar of a lot of colleges looking for recruits. The quarterback achieved an impressive #15 ranking in the state of Georgia and will continue to grow in his next two years at NC.

Despite the odds, the NC varsity Warriors charged onto the field valiantly excited to honor their school and their peers. The Warriors overcame the Wolves while improving their skills in the first home game of the season by winning against one of the highest-ranked teams in Georgia. “I am just really proud of our kids to come in here and play the way we did like that was very impressive. They are the winningest team in the last 20 years in the state of Georgia. They have lost 17 games in 17 years,” Queen said.

After receiving the starting quarterback position over junior quarterback Trevor Lovett for the second week in a row, freshman phenom Malachi Singleton (pictured above) faced trouble in his second career start. Though posting over 100 yards of total offense, Singleton did not find the endzone friendly, unlike a week prior where he scored 4 touchdowns. “Malachi did well for only his second game. Colquitt County is just an unreal team,” sophomore linebacker Vernard Martin said.

The Warrior offensive unit, led by junior quarterback Trevor Lovett, struggled throughout the night, only scoring one touchdown late in the first quarter. Darren Waller, former NC student-athlete, graduated with an athletic scholarship to Georgia Tech, eventually being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens into the NFL. clockwise from top right: playing in a playoff game in Emory Sewell Stadium, Waller approaches the bright lights of the NFL stage playing for the Oakland Raiders, at graduation alongside Evan Stack, another NC alum, and now regularly playing with the Raiders. Waller credits much of his preparation to his time at NC. “I play a lot of Madden NFL 20, and I’m really excited to use Darren Waller on the Raiders. It’s super cool that he played here at North Cobb and made it big in the NFL,” junior Brendan Koch said.
