NC Varsity baseball player Ethan Fry recently committed to LaGrange College to further his academic and baseball career. After playing baseball for the majority of his life, Fry prepares to extend his career to college as he hopes to eventually play for a Major League Baseball team.

Magnet senior Josh Dixon slides into second in the 2019 playoff game against the Newnan High School Cougars. Despite impressive plays from the entire team, the Warriors, unfortunately, got knocked out of playoffs after this first game, however, this year the Warriors plan on improving all aspects and coming back with vengeance. “I actually don’t think we had major weaknesses or strengths. We were generally good in all areas, but when it comes to our regions and Georgia baseball in general, ‘generally good’ is only going to get you so far,” Assistant Coach Micheal Turchan said.

The second semester starts off with a roar of excitement preparing for the spring season sports. NC hosts their tryouts for Soccer, and Baseball this week, while Track and Field and Lacrosse plans to begin practices but become delayed due to the rainy weather. Junior Goalie, Philip Stark, practices his skills and warms up for a promising season.

NC Varsity baseball comes to a bittersweet ending with NC being kicked out of the playoffs by the Newnan High School Cougars. The Warriors played in a two day series, winning one game 7-4 and losing the other two which resulted in the end of their season. However, Warriors looked forward to their banquet held on April 30th to celebrate the accomplishments achieved throughout the season.

Magnet junior Andrew Martinez darts to first base, attempting a hit for the Warriors. “I think we played clean baseball both offensively and defensively, which looked really good and makes us a top competitor in the state. Our ability to work as a team is great and helps us bring each other up too,” Martinez said.

Prather hopes to continue feeding his immense passion for baseball, sharing that he discovered his adoration for it in his childhood. “I wanted to play other sports when I was a kid, but once I got really focused on baseball, I just wanted to keep on playing baseball and I knew that it was what I wanted to do with my life,” Prather said.

NC Varsity Warriors celebrated a win against the Woodstock Wolverines on Tuesday, March 5. “Woodstock isn’t what they were last year and we showed them that. I felt good during the game, the team had my back and we produced when we needed it,” senior pitcher Jonathan Young said.

NC varsity baseball hopes to continue their four game winning streak tonight at Lassiter High School. “I really don’t want to let down the team or the school tonight. We’ve been doing so good and I hope we can continue,” sophomore catcher Harry Ford said.
