Jasmina Buranich, a senior at NC, joined The Chant in 2022 to fulfill her passion for editing and learning about the writing techniques of others, sharing her opinions and research and networking with others. As she enters her last year on The Chant, she hopes to create meaningful memories with her fellow editors and reporters, meet new friends, highlight the successes of minority students at NC and continue publishing her research about the criminal justice system. When not writing, Buranich enjoys spending time with her friends, traveling with her family, volunteering in Cobb County and nationally, and helping her classmates with their academic assignments. After high school, Buranich hopes to attend a large university with a diverse student body and, hopefully, a student-led newspaper.

As if the American people—primarily the Democratic party— did not already feel convinced enough about the election interference charges against former president Donald J. Trump, the Supreme Court of the United States received a petition from the former president Monday, December 11, asking for immunity. With the 2024 election on the rise and caucuses and primaries only weeks away, there lies a possibility that the defendant may feel that the prosecution holds sufficient evidence to convince the court of his guilt. Nonetheless, the question that SCOTUS must answer reigns on the principles of the rule of law, and with this notion, nobody remains above the law.

While spending time behind bars, the two million people in American prison systems turn to recreational activities to pass the time. Art comes in various forms—podcasts, drawings, paintings and more— and serves as a way for incarcerated individuals to express themselves. As universities and programs lean toward social justice and inclusion, two platforms remain notorious for their work with and for US incarcerated talents.

As fashion trends rise, people recognize the effect of styles, patterns, colors and cuts on their self-perception. The phenomenon of enclothed cognition suggests that clothing items hold power over psychological and physical processes. This sensation received additional attention as researchers, doctors and professors refer back to the subject to justify bodily operations and emotional changes.
